WELCOME

The League of Women Voters of Clark County is part of a national organization that was formed more than 104 years ago and is not for women only! We are proudly nonpartisan and never align ourselves with candidates or parties. Instead, we promote knowledge of the political process, celebrate political participation by citizens across the political spectrum, and encourage the necessary democratic values of rule of law, civil discourse, and respect for truth as modeled by our process for developing policy positions.

The show airs at 8:15 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and is available as a podcast the following week. It's a terrific show!  In July, Tracy and Teresa interview the Clark County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sergeant Chris Skidmore. Sgt. Skidmore has a deep understanding of the issues that affect the Sheriff’s Department in a county that contains urban, rural and suburban residents. We learn how challenging drug abuse and property crime can be, and how pursuit and pursuit legislation affect their operations.

Sgt. Skidmore explains how both body cameras and K-9 Corps are the Sheriff’s best friend. Lastly, we begin to understand how immediately a crime can occur, and can unfold in the blink of an eye!

Our League won the 2023 Community Connections Democracy Award from LWVWA in recognition of our "Citizen 411" radio show on KXRW (99.9 FM). You can find all the episodes here: https://kxrw.fm/citizen-411/
