WELCOME

The League of Women Voters of Clark County is part of a national organization that was formed more than 106 years ago and is not for women only! We are proudly nonpartisan and never align ourselves with candidates or parties. Instead, we promote knowledge of the political process, celebrate political participation by citizens across the political spectrum, and encourage the necessary democratic values of rule of law, civil discourse, and respect for truth as modeled by our process for developing policy positions.

LEAGUE IN ACTION: DEFENDING DEMOCRACY

Study co-authors Susan Martin and Lydia Zepeda

LWVWA's position on Immigrant Rights passed with an overwhelming majority at the LWVUS Convention!

Study co-authors Susan Martin and Lydia Zepeda led the two-year study, “Welcoming Immigrants to Washington State,” which resulted in the state League position, which membership adopted at the state League convention in Vancouver, Washington, last June.

LWVWA President Karen Crowley explained that the vote to adopt the Washington League position by delegates this weekend in Columbus, Ohio, calls for all residents, again regardless of citizenship or immigration status, “to be treated with respect, have access to essential state-funded services, have legal representation in court and immigration proceedings and have the opportunity to live and work in safety.”

Moreover, the position calls on political leaders and government officials “to condemn xenophobia, discrimination, and anti-immigrant rhetoric.”

Our country is in a constitutional crisis. It's time to take our democracy back.

Unite and Rise 8.5 will activate 8.5 million voices through civic engagement, education, and collective power.
